Witching hour and green overalls

This was in late November or early December I think. I remember these little green overalls and bundling her into the sling or baby carrier in these because right around Finn's bedtime, and 6.30 or 7pm, her witching hour would start, coinciding perfectly with the time of day when I was most exhausted. So, howling, I would take her for a walk through our neighbourhood, leaves crunching, wind blowing, she would be bundled so tightly against me that I could barely see her face, just a little space for her to breathe the cold air. I fully confess that while she was crying, I had on my ipod, volume up. After ten minutes or so, she would be fast asleep.

She is such a sweet baby. I think at this point I stopped sometimes saying "he" and "him" because I was so used to having a little boy, and having a little girl was so foreign to me. The first time I went out to buy her some bigger baby clothes (she was in 3-6 months right away) I was overwhelmed and amazed at the outfit options and accessories for even baby girls! I almost felt like a bad mom for not buying her the matching baby tights for the star patterned fleecey dress and onesie outfit. Then I mentally slapped myself and reminded myself that we had about thirty pairs of barely worn tights handed down from our friends who had girls before us. Did I really need 31 because they matched just perfectly? Ummm no.

7 weeks

Its seems like she could hold her head up from the beginning, and I need to find the picture of her where she is sitting in the bumbo seat ( a soft babysafe seat that you can plunk an older baby into) at six weeks.

5 weeks

Three weeks four days

The first few weeks are a blur.
Oh who am I kidding. Its all a blur. I do remember at her first few checkups that she is 99 and 92 percentile for height and weight. She babbles to herself all the time and has found her fingers!

She is making the best faces already, and I remember from the get go she was fascinated with Finn. When he'd walk in the room she'd crane her neck to find him. Her first outing was to turtle pond on a cold October day, the 12th I think, to meet Finn with his preschool class on a field trip.

Day 5

Here she is, at five days old, and when she is awake making very grouchy faces. I remember that when we got home she started to make up for lost time nursing because she was not interested in the hospital. The first 2 days in hospital she slept and slept and slept. She is such a good baby.We couldn't believe how big she was!
